Building a Motor Control Center & One line Diagram Today is: MOTOR CONTROL ALPHABETICAL PRODUCT INDEX LETTER A LETTER B LETTER C LETTER D LETTER E LETTER F LETTER G LETTER H LETTER I LETTER L LETTER M LETTER P LETTER R LETTER S LETTER T Building a motor control center is a huge topic and this is just an overview how I handle the job.
First, finding out clients prefer MCC manufacture. MCC manufactures such as Allen Bradley, Cutler Hammer, and Square D are highly recommended. They will need document submitted from us such as one line diagram, specification; outline drawing includes dimensions, anchoring recommendations; design criteria will be depends on applications, example such as service voltage rating, process equipment motors, lighting, cable tray, outlets, instrumentation systems, enclosure type, grounding, doors, wire ways, and much more.
Basically, MCC manufacture will base on control logic from your one line diagram to build MCC and we-electrical designers- must understand that control logic to work back and forth with vendor. Again, this is only my way of doing work, others will do different way. As far as the importance of one line diagram, Ill focus a little bit more on this from my points of understanding.
One line diagram is a basic power flow of electrical power. Most of major equipments will usually be shown on one line diagram. For simple, one line diagram only shows one line instead of showing 3 phase line. To work on one line diagram, one should list all the required equipments, knowing the big picture of the project, knowing where to receive power and distributing power to different equipment.Useful tips: Find out the appropriate voltage of equipments to feed at appropriate voltage supply.
Use step up or step down transformer accordingly in order to feed right voltage supply for the equipment. Therere lot factors to think upfront, if the motor is very expensive and worth to protect it, use motor protector. Use variable frequency drive to save energy if needed. Use contactor to control motor. If the motor travel only one way, use full voltage non reversing (FVNR) contactor type.
The valve travel both ways, then use full voltage reversing (FVR) contactor type. And much more depends on your application to decide an effective design. Manufacture make motor control center based on this one line diagram. Standard Schematic Diagram . Have Anything To Say About This Topic? Do you have any comments or questions?
